Do I lose image quality when using a 2x teleconverter?
By multiplying the focal length by 2x, it is normal for the effective maximum aperture to be reduced (for example, an f/2.8 becomes f/5.6). This can slightly affect performance in low light, but image quality remains very high in most cases. The extender is designed to minimize loss of sharpness.
Does autofocus still work with this extender?
Yes, the RF 2x Extender maintains full communication between the lens and camera, so autofocus, light metering, and image stabilization remain operational. However, autofocus speed may be reduced in low light conditions.
