It offers a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range, allowing excellent performance in low-light conditions and creative control over depth of field. Its minimum focusing distance of 0.95 meters throughout the zoom range and maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at 200mm make it an interesting option for close-up photography.
This lens, released in 2008, weighs 1150 grams and has a filter diameter of 77mm. Its optical construction includes LD (low dispersion) elements to reduce chromatic aberrations, and its autofocus is compatible with Sony A cameras. When mounted on an APS-C sensor camera, it offers an equivalent focal length of 105-300mm, extending its reach.
